Nu Image adds crime thriller Homefront to Cannes slate

EXCLUSIVE: The independent sector’s go-to action man Jason Statham will star and Sylvester Stallone wrote the screenplay. The pair recently wrapped production on another title from the Nu Image / Millennium Films stable, The Expendables 2.

Head of international sales John Fremes will introduce the Millennium Films project to buyers on the Croisette this week and a production start has been earmarked for September.
Gary Fleder will direct from Stallone’s adapted screenplay based on the novel by Chuck Logan.
Homefront centres on a DEA agent who moves his family to a small town and comes out of retirement when his family and the local community are threatened by drug traffickers.
Stallone is producing with Kevin King-Templeton and Avi Lerner, with Trevor Short on board as executive producer

James Franco Heads to Homefront

James Franco has joined the cast of Millennium Films' Homefront, Variety reports. He'll star opposite the previously-attached Jason Statham in the Gary Fleder action thriller, drafted by Sylvester Stallone and officially described as follows:

A DEA Agent (Statham) retires to a seemingly quiet place with an underbelly of drugs and violence. When his family is threatened he is forced back into action to save his loved ones and the town.

Franco will play Gator, a meth magnate who has taken over Statham's character's hometown.

Franco appeared last year in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and can soon be seen in About Cherry and Spring Breakers.
