Artists’ Words of 2012 – Part 5 (By K. A. Kim)
Hello everyone!
It is the first time that I say hello to you guys here! My name is
K.A. Kim.
It is a little bit late but I still want to say Happy New Year to
you guys!
It is already February now. Many people would like to know how this
year will be.
For me, 2011 is a very impressive year because I have worked with
Hot Toys for the first time.
In May 2011, I met JC & Yulli, they gave me valuable
opportunities to try some sculpting works and I was very happy
about that!
At the beginning, it was not easy for me. I made mistakes again and
again and JC & Yulli were angry with me. Then I studied and
practiced a lot. This year, my target is to avoid any mistakes and
to have more sense of responsibility about my work.
Last year, for me, my most favorite project is the Red Skull
Collectible Figure from the Captain America movie, because it is
quite challenging for me. I always sculpt for young people and this
time Red Skull is a bit older comparatively. At the beginning, I
think that it looks so easy, because it is just the skin texture
which makes it look more complicated. But when I try more and more,
it is quite difficult. So I try to understand the skin feeling of
old people by checking my parents’ and grandma’s face. Finally I
have done this job. It was very fun and I enjoyed a lot!
Through this project, I feel that my sculpting skills are not good
enough. I am very sorry about that.
In the future, I will try to be more concentrated, study and
practice more about human faces to do greater sculpts for you
guys.
