Q.Seriously, do you have any plan to produce a War Machine Legendary Scale Figure? When? I really want it, as my Mark III Half Scale Maquette needs a friend!

We’re a touch distracted by the awesomeness presented by The Avengers, but yes, it’s in the plan.


Q.Hi Sideshow, I was wondering if you are working on your first female Legendary Scale Figure from Marvel yet? If you did a Mary Jane I’d be sooo happy! Marvel lovelies are on our radar and coming soon. Meanwhile, from a whole different Universe, keep a look out for Catwoman! She is fierce and she is close to the finish line. Meow.

Q. Will we be seeing a Rogue Legendary Scale Bust? And a Gambit Comiquette?

A. Ah, well we like your line of thinking! As big fans of those characters we were excited to present them as Premium Format Figures that would display nicely together. At this time, we have a lot of other plans for Legendary Scale Busts and Comiquettes that come first on our agenda. But rest assured we are thinking in terms of series.

Q. Now that we’ve got Shredder, what’s next for the Turtles?!

A. Better order a pizza and settle in, dude! Sideshow has some fresh ideas for TMNT, and we will be sharing them soon. Think smaller – more battle friendly!

Just recently we caught up with our friend Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Turtles, and showed him some of the early design ideas. And we got him in front of a camera, so look out for an interview in the near future. ;)

Q. WE WANT A PREMIUM FORMAT SUPERMAN, BUT OF CHRISTOPHER REEVE SPECIFICALLY! ARE THERE ANY CONTRACTUAL HURDLES TO USING HIS LIKENESS?

Q. Ever thought about making some upgrade kits to some of the figures that have already come out? Like Cobra Commander’s metal mask or even Captain Rex’s Phase 2 helmet? Rather than coming out with a whole new figure it’d be better with an upgrade kit!

A. We like the ideas and options upgrade kits could offer, and are looking into it. But we also like producing new figures with fresh eyes!

Things are progressing quickly with our development and production processes, and we feel somewhat obligated to take a new approach at characters, especially if our last attempts were years ago.

Plus, you have to consider that characters like Captain Rex have an entirely new look in the Phase 2 gear; it’s not just an accessory bucket swap!

Q. I just finished reading X-Men Schism. In it Wolverine and Cyclops fight while a sentinel is attacking, which brings me to my question: could you guys make a Wolverine vs Cyclops diorama?

A. We hear ya bub, but we are really stoked to show our Wolverine vs. Hulk first!

Q. With the Diablo III Overthrown diorama we saw the Barbarian. Now that all classes were revealed, will we ever see a diorama for each Diablo III class, or a group diorama like the X-Force diorama?

A. Sideshow and Blizzard are in discussions about Diablo III. We’re far from decided on the best way to represent the various classes, but we are tremendously excited!

Q. I’ve asked this question a few times and I’m still waiting for an answer! When are we going to see a 1:6 scale Mara Jade?

A. The answer is “not in 2012.” But believe us when we say that your enthusiasm is shared by our development team. It’s important for us to have the right approach for characters, including Mara, and we are on it. For example, when it comes to females (and other new body types) we are making leaps and bounds!

Q. I just wanted to ask if there are any plans for Sixth Scale or Premium Format Figures of The Rocketeer? How about a Ryan Gosling Drive Figure? We would also like to see a Life-Size Figure of anything Predator!! Hope to hear back from you guys.

A. This sort of feels like cheating because you’ve asked three very different questions here. But what the heck, here goes:

1. Our CEO has a big soft spot for The Rocketeer, and with the chance to combine Disney and Art Deco themes our design team loved working on the character. We have a finished Premium Format Figure of him, and he’s In-Stock now.

2. Drive was an interesting film, one that our Creative Director and many others on staff enjoyed very much. And Ryan Gosling has certainly developed a respectable following. However, we feel we’ll still have to wait for him to nab just the right role to make sense for a figure.

3. Oh yes, we have big plans for Predator. I would tell you more, but you’ve maxed out the quota of information for one Ask Sideshow post ;)

Q. Any chance of more Spider-Man villains statues this year? Maybe a Doc Ock Premium Format, Rhino Comiquette, Shocker Premium Format, or an Anti Venom Comiquette?

A. The Rhino Comiquette will be charging through here very, very soon!

Q. Hey Sideshow, a few weeks back there was a Sideshow tweet that said you just got done seeing a few sneak peeks of future products – one of which was Disney. Disney Premium Format owners are nervous/anxious over a new announcement, or at least a time frame for some more villainous goodness. Can you provide an update for your loyal Disney customers?
