Am 9. September 2021 ist "Star Trek: Der Film" (USA 1979) gemeinsam mit den drei Fortsetzungen erstmals auf Ultra HD Blu-ray im Boxset erschienen – allerdings "nur" in der originalen Kinofassung. Regisseur Robert Wise konnte einige Szenen und Effekte aufgrund des Termindrucks nicht in der Qualität umsetzen, wie er sich vorgestellt hatte, und brachte im Jahr 2002 den Film in verbesserter Form als "The Director’s Edition" auf DVD heraus. Die ultimative Fassung wird am 8. April 2022 nicht nur erstmals in 4K Auflösung beim Streaminganbieter Paramount+ zu sehen sein, sondern im September dieses Jahres darüber hinaus von Paramount Home Entertainment auf Ultra HD Blu-ray herausgebracht. Die genauen Märkte wurden zwar noch nicht erwähnt, eine zeitnahe Veröffentlichung in Deutschland dürfte aber wahrscheinlich sein.

Die "Director’s Edition" wurde von Mike Matessino und dem Produzenten David C. Fein aufwendig restauriert und kommt mit Dolby Vision und einem neuen Dolby-Atmos-Soundtrack auf den Markt. Insgesamt sechs Monate hat man an der Restaurierung gesessen, um die Effekte in Ultra High Definition nachzubilden. Einen ersten Eindruck erhalten Sie nachfolgend im offiziellen Trailer. Termin manifestiert sich.
Der DC kommt wohl zusammen mit den Kinofilmen V und VI im September.
Wie hier released wird, weiss wohl selbst Paramount noch nicht.

Also, keep in mind that Paramount may handle the release differently here in the States than the release plan in Europe. It could be that the films will come in another 4K UHD box set, as opposed to singles. We’ll have to wait and see.

As for the Next Generation films in 4K Ultra HD, our guess would be that Paramount intends to drop those in time for the holidays this year or early next year,

Na dann steht der 1-6 Box nix mehr im Wege, inkl. DC, und nächstes Jahr dann die 1-10 Box. Jedenfalls freue ich mich darauf schon wie ein Vulkanier.
