Disney is developing "Herby", a TV series based on based on the 2005 film "Herbie: Fully Loaded", SpoilerTV has learned. The original film starred Lindsay Lohan as Maggie Peyton, the new owner of Number 53 - the free-wheelin' Volkswagen bug with a mind of its own who puts the car through its paces on the road to becoming a NASCAR competitor. The Disney TV series seems to be following the same premise, likely with a younger protagonist.

Through out the years the titular "Herbie" has appeared in a number of films, with the 2005 being the highest grossing of them all. The car was also featured in a short-lived TV series which aired on CBS in 1982.

The TV series is being prepped for Disney Channel's sibling network Disney XD.
