***PCS Special Announcement***
SIMI VALLEY, Calif -- Six months after transferring business
operations to current CEO Anthony Adams, Pop Culture Shock
Collectibles Founder Jerry Macaluso on Monday announced complete
divestiture of the company to Anthony and VP of Sales, Distribution
and Customer Service, Mark Martin.
Macaluso will continue on in an active role as Creative
Director.
“They’ve really been running the company for the last 6 months, so
internally there’s not much of a change,” Macaluso said. “Their
presence allowed me to focus solely on the creative side, and when
I realized how happy and fulfilled I was, officially making a full
transition was the natural evolution of that. Combining our
individual strengths has been mutually beneficial for both the
company and our die-hard collector base.”
“But make no mistake,” Macaluso elaborated, “while I am no longer
the owner, I am not leaving PCS, and I am very excited to devote my
complete concentration to the art side.”
Adams and Martin joined PCS in May, and have been responsible for
an overhaul of the company’s website,
popcultureshocktoys.com, as
well as their customer service department, factory production and
licensing.
“Mark and I have absolute confidence in the infrastructure Jerry
has developed, and the fantastic, unbelievably talented team he
trained has already stepped up without missing a beat,” Adams said
in a statement.
“Before we were involved in running the company, we were customers
ourselves,” Adams continued. “And while we’ve always had an
appreciation of PCS’ innovation and commitment to quality, joining
the team has only made us more excited about it’s potential. We all
fantasize about owning our favorite company someday, and while
actually getting to do that is a dream come true, it is a
responsibility we do not take lightly. Our mission is to make Jerry
– and the PCS community – proud of what comes next.”
“Like a lot of great companies, PCS started out as something I did
for fun,” reflects Macaluso. “When it was just me designing and
sculpting in my garage, setting up lights for product shots or
making overseas calls to factories in the middle of the night, my
expectations were initially quite modest. Looking back a decade
later, after our payroll twice outgrew the facilities we were
working in and hundreds of shipped SKUs, it’s hard to believe I
ever thought 3 employees would be enough.”
10 years on, PCS has become one of the leading manufacturers of
high-end collectibles in the industry. “As much as my ambitions
grew over time, the company still managed to take off in ways I
never expected,” Macaluso said. “Anthony and Mark have a clear
enthusiasm for running the business, and their vision for expansion
is only just beginning to bear fruit. It was obvious they were the
right people to lead Pop Culture Shock into the next phase of its
journey, and watching them defy even more expectations will be a
thrill.”
“If my own hands are going to be caked in clay again,” he added, “I
couldn’t ask for more capable ones to leave my company in than
theirs.”
