Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to inquire about the behavior of Blu-Ray
Disc/DVD recorders (S-ATA/IDE computer drives) on power
failures.
Since write-once Blu-Ray discs are relatively expensive and
writing can take about an hour, I was wondering what
happened if there was a power failure during the burning
process. Would the drive be able to recover and pick up
where it left off upon reboot (provided the software
supports it) or would the medium be wasted?
What about re-writeable BR media or DVDs?
Could it help if the computer kept running for a few seconds
and the BIOS would issue some sort of "shutdown" command?
I am inquiring, because I think that this topic is important
for emerging markets, where power failures are a daily issue
and UPS are considered expensive...
Thank you very much for your help!
