Byakuya Kuchiki is captain of the Gotei 13's 6th division. Therefore, he is the guarantor of law and order. He despises anyone who will act against them. That's the reason why he did not oppose his step-sister – Rukia's arrest, even if he was hurt. Seemingly cold-hearted and scornful, he is in fact the heir of the long history of the Kuchiki clan, one of the four major noble families of Soul Society. The truth is he is always trying to act as he is intended to and with dignity.
